Welcome to www.taylorhypnotherapy.co.uk, the website of Stuart Taylor HPD. Clinical Hypnotherapist.
The purpose of this website is to provide clear information on how hypnotherapy can help with a range of problems and to answer some of the frequently asked questions about hypnotherapy and hypnosis.
When sensibly and professionally applied, hypnosis can create new thought patterns, behaviours and habits that will help build a new, more positive approach to life.
How can Hypnotherapy help?
Hypnotherapy utilises hypnosis and cognitive/behavioural approaches such as Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) to access the conscious and subconscious parts of our mind in order to gain the fresh attitudes and new ways of thinking required to change not only how we feel about ourselves but also our response to life.It is a natural and effective way of changing unwanted patterns of behaviour at a subconscious level so that we can regain control of our thoughts and actions - in effect you are given the opportunity to reassess any faulty or outdated programming that you may have received in the past.
Understanding how our mind works
We can sometimes find ourselves repeating mistakes, slipping into bad habits and generally falling into the same old traps of thinking that seem to hamper even our greatest efforts to change. We might get angry or distressed by our seemingly endless ability to sabotage our best intentions and may even begin to find ourselves anxious or upset for no particular reason.
Will power fails us, common sense deserts us and no amount of conscious effort seems to be able to raise us from those feelings of frustration or failure.
Why does this happen?
Our mind is made up of two parts: the conscious and the subconscious and unless both these parts understand and are in agreement with a specific change we will continue to generate internal resistance to any new way of thinking. This is because our subconscious is the storehouse of all our beliefs and past patterns of behaviour and will prompt us to respond in a learnt way until we specifically re-educate it otherwise.
Put simply our subconscious will continue to promote past beliefs - even if they are harmful, damaging or maybe just outdated, until we encourage it to follow a new approach.
(SFBT) Solution Focused Brief Therapy
Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) is an effective and often very quick way of helping people overcome past difficulties and move forward with their life. Many different approaches are utilised during SFBT to encourage a client to discover abilities that may have seemed beyond their reach and each programme of therapy is designed according to your preferences, your personality and your needs.
Techniques such as self-hypnosis and promotion of positive changes in cognitive behaviour allow a shift in thinking and self belief that awakens and unlocks potential skills alongside reinforcing existing strengths (Yes – we all have them!).
Because the positive change is occurring at both a conscious and subconscious level it will feel very natural, realistic and perhaps most importantly, maintainable.
The length of treatments might range from three sessions for a clear cut phobia to perhaps twelve for someone who is clinically depressed.
Each session lasts one hour and costs £50.00
